UNSUNG: The Accidental Villains of History

This new original musical takes a farcical look at historical events and imagines how they came to be. UNSUNG: The Accidental Villains of History, introduces the characters who unknowingly set the stage for some of the world's biggest disasters, all while delivering catchy tunes and witty humour. Hear seven untold stories, from the admissions director who rejected Hitler from art school to the animal-loving guard who let in the Trojan Horse.

TD Festival of New Works

Spring 2021

UNSUNG: The Accidental Villains of History was first presented at the TD Festival of New Works, an event put on at by the Canadian College of Performing Arts. It was 12 minutes long and featured stories from the following historical events;

  • Creation of the Guillotine

  • Titanic

  • Hitler’s rejection from art school

The performance was met with an overwhelmingly positive response, leading Mackenzie to continue developing it.

Ottawa Fringe Festival

June 2023

UNSUNG’s next evolution was into the 50 minute version it is today. Mackenzie expanded on the three stories she already had and added four more stories. These stories were based on the following historical events

  • Trojan Horse

  • First Person to go down Niagara Falls

  • Stock Market Crash

  • Chicago Fire
